BUT BIRMINGHAM MAYOR RANDALL WOODFIN HAD A BIG ANNOUNCEMENT WEDNESDAY MORNING FOR PARENTS AND STUDENTS IN THE BIRMINGHAM SCHOOL SYSTEM for Birmingham High school graduates who would like to attend a two year or four year public college or university in the state of alabama, they shall be able to attend tuition free. AT ANY PUBLIC UNIVERSITY IN THE STATE, SHOULD THAT STUDENT BE ACCEPTED. THIS IS WHAT MAYOR WOODFIN HAS CALLED THE BIRMINGHAM PROMISE, AND IN TERMS OF HOW THE CITY WILL PAY FOR IT, THE MAYOR HAD THIS TO SAY birmingham is making the initial investments over the next five eyars of a minimum of over 10 years to support the birmingham promise. the remaining of the majority of these monies will be lead by private donors and fundraisers.
