DPS News Now: Free College Applications, Whole Child Student Survey

I’m Will Jones, this is DPS News Now! This week, we’re at Bruce Randolph School
with a wonderful therapy dog named Penny. This community has been a tremendous leader
in Whole Child supports, or making sure that our kids are supported socially and emotionally. DPS is announcing the results of its Whole
Child Student Survey. 80-percent of DPS students responded that
they feel Socially and Emotionally Intelligent. 85-percent felt Supported, and 88-percent
feel they are Challenged at their school. “Supporting our students as Whole Children
is inextricably linked to their academic success.” As part of College and Career Readiness month,
DPS is holding ‘College Application Days.’ Thousands of eager (and nervous) high school
seniors are applying for colleges – together, And as a special bonus, all application fees
are totally waived. “We get to kind of like, apply together. And be in a good environment where we don’t
get to feel nervous about college.”
