K-State Partners with Barton Community College to Offer Bachelor’s Degree in the Community

These two plus two programs I think really
are fantastic in that they are really that nice guarantee. If a student takes these particular
things and they come to Kansas State University, we can say you do this and you are going to
graduate. What we would like to see across the state
of Kansas for everyone is a very seamless way to pursue their college degree. Whether
they stay at their community, they can finish a degree or whether they actually can come
to a campus that they have mapped out very clearly what courses they need, so that when
they get to either online or to the university, somebody isn’t saying ‘oh that doesn’t
transfer, oh why did you take that. You have to take that over again.’ We’re promoting the general business two plus
two partnership that we’ve now signed with all nineteen Kansas community colleges and
that really spells out exactly what classes a student would take at the community college
to get the Associate’s degree and then what classes they would need to take from Kansas
State University. The two plus two program benefits me by allowing
me to raise a family, work full time, and still get an education. Futuristically we would love to have K-State
offer more online degree completion programs and as those come online, we will be able
to do more two plus two’s with community colleges.
